Bio Gen Active® is a health- and environmentally-optimised substrate derived from fermented whey.

It is in every one of the 18 formulations Lactaz publishes — 14 named industrial and professional grades plus 4 single formulations.

The process

Nothing from the cheese vat goes to waste.

  1. 1 · Whey

    Cheese production leaves whey protein and lactic acid behind. Most of the world treats that as a disposal problem.

  2. 2 · Ferment

    We ferment it. The result is Bio Gen Active® — a health- and environmentally-optimised substrate derived from fermented whey.

  3. 3 · Formulate

    Blended with fruit acids, chelating agents or surfactants depending on the job — from a pH ~1.3 descaler to a pH ~11 food-grade degreaser.

  4. 4 · Ship

    Straight from our own warehouse in London, Ontario. No distributors between the formulation and your floor.

One substrate, four pH regimes

What it does depends on what it is blended with.

In an acidic descaler

Combined with fruit acids to lift limescale, rust, cement and organic deposits out of waterborne systems.

In a pH-neutral rust remover

Combined with chelating agents and phosphonic acids, non-corrosive to most materials including carbon steel — which is why it can circulate for 12 to 48 hours.

Solvent-free and high-alkaline, replacing corrosive products for food-grade CIP on fats, oils and biological residues.
